CUSTOM GUITAR SHOW
Click Here to See Interviews of the Luthiers at the Show Interviewed by Terry Victor
Our Luthier’s Open House last weekend was a smashing success. We hosted 7 guitar builders and 1 display builder and the room was filled with works of great beauty and enduring quality. We saw a great and varied crowd of people come through to experience the showcase and everyone had a great time. We are looking forward to doing it again.
A reminder that on May 14th ,Jon Steidemann will be hosting one of his Best of Open Stage shows, featuring our great friend Chris McCallum along with Fred Hunt, Monte Edwardson, Steve Posey, Nina Knef and much more. The show will start at 2:00 instead of the usual 3:00 so all these great musicians will get plenty of time to shine.
COLORADO CUSTOM GUITAR BUILDERS
We are hosting an Open House Showcase for 7 of Colorado’s finest luthiers tomorrow, Saturday April 23rd from 10:00 till 4:00. Tony Curro, James Einolf, Alan Dunwell, Dan McCrimmon, Russ Brodaway, Jeff Bamburg, and Dan Kuglar are the featured builders. They will be showing off several of their best instruments and everything will be for sale. Please take advantage of this terrific opportunity to meet and experience these expert craftsmen and their wonderful works of art and function.
Stephen “Mitch” Micciche will also be on hand showing off his exquisite display cabinets for musical instruments. Mitch has had a couple of his cabinets in our store for years and has built displays for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
This should prove to be an exciting event and we are hoping to see all of our friends stop by for a visit.
Make a Guitar sound “well played”
We just received a new device, the Prime Vibe by NXT©, and are pretty amazed at the results.
It is a transducer that acts as a sort of speaker driver and when placed on the top of a guitar vibrates the instrument, opening it up for maximum tonal impact.
We tried it on a late model Martin guitar that hadn’t been played in a while and the difference was AMAZING! After using the Prime Vibe for a full day on the guitar it sounded like a completely different instrument.
So we thought if we had one of these things in the shop we could offer our customers the service of a cleaning, restringing, adjustment (if needed), and a day on the Prime Vibe.
Starting today for a limited time we will offer the PRIME VIBE service for $30.00 including uncoated strings, or $40.00 for coated strings. We think you will be impressed!
OLD MUSIC SOUNDS NEW
Last week while traveling to the mountains, (it was amazing the difference between the mild fall weather the city has been blessed with and the onset of winter at 8,000 feet) we put on the newly remastered CD of the Beatles “Revolver” album. Wow! what a piece of work it was. It struck me as we listened that while all the songs are masterpieces the songs penned by John Lennon, if never heard before, would be as fresh and new as anything on the radio now. The man was amazing.
Another amazing fellow from those days is Keith Richards, whose new book is getting a lot of coverage. Does anyone remember all those debates kids were having in the middle/late sixties about who was the better band, the Beatles of the Rolling Stones? And the debates about who was better, John or Paul, or Mick or Brian, or even Keith? What fun that was, what an innocent time. And to have been blessed with being around when all that great music was brand new. Pass it on.
NEW HUSS & DALTON GUITAR
One of the great perks being around guitars all the time is the opportunity to get really WOWED by something every now and then.
We got that chance this week when the new guitar from Huss & Dalton arrived. An MJC custom with “Sinker” mahogany and a spectacular sunburst cedar top. I’ll post the whole sinker story soon, but the short story is this old mahogany was discovered recently at the bottom of a river in Belize. The sound from this guitar is a clear and strong as you hear from a great piano, so warm and well balanced I wish I didn’t already have a guitar made of mahogany and cedar. We’ll post new pictures soon and we’ve got one taken by the folks at Huss and Dalton.
Come in and play this masterpiece while it’s still here.
You’ll thank yourself you did!
Shopping Local
I have noticed a trend among a number of local business areas, lately. I see a lot of signs encouraging people to shop locally. In Englewood we are beginning a campaign to encourage our neighbors to shop and browse among the many interesting stores that exist along Broadway. There are many benefits to shopping local. When you shop in your neighborhood you are investing directly into keeping your local economy healthy. When you shop locally you are sending your tax dollars to benefit the fire and police departments that are charged with keeping you safe. Of course local tax dollars also help keep your streets paved and your trash picked up among many other services we all take for granted. When you keep your business local you enjoy the relationships built with local merchants and restaurants, this encourages the business to cater to you personally finding what your needs and wants might be and keeping your favorites on hand. The best thing about our business here at Acoustic Music Revival is getting to meet and become friends with so many different, wonderful people. Our business is made more successful and more exciting because of people like yourself, who have been able to further pursue the dream of making good music for yourselves, your families and friends, and anyone else who cares to listen. To all of you who shop locally with us, Thank You Very Much.

A visit by a real picker!
We had a visit on Thursday from Toby Walker, who is an endorser with Huss & Dalton Guitars. He and his lovely wife. Carol, are vacationing in Colorado and he needed a guitar to play. We had one set aside for him to use while he’s here and during his visit we forced him to play the Huss & Dalton guitars we had hanging. I don’t know that I’ve ever heard someone finger pick like he does. Wow! And he’s a great guy, too boot. We tried to play a duet, as you can see from the picture, but I just got in his way. Check out his website and his playing. You will be glad you did!
By the way, he really was blown away playing the MJC custom we have in stock. It’s my favorite, as well.
